We all know about "21 Grams" but has anyone seen his film debut (in 2000) called "Amores perros?"

I think it's a masterwork!

Comments anyone??

I have mixed feelings about 21 Grams.

I liked Amores Perros MUCH better that 21 Grams. In fact, and as much as I enjoyed Benicio's performance, the acting in Amores Perros is stellar. You will not be prepared for how great a film it is ... it's long, so have a big bowl of popcorn and some Coronas near by. And ENJOY.

P.S. Sarah: NETFLIX will send it within two days ... and you can hold on to it as long as you wish.

Thanks Edwin! First I'll try my local video store, they've been pretty cool in the past about ordering movies for rental upon request. I'll give you the verdict afterwards :-)

Hang with it. Though it's fairly long, it's quite rewardiing.

It's a directorial debut, and shot on a "Mexican" budget ... but easily qualifies as a BIG picture.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! (I say it three times because it's three dove-tailed tales.)

Finally saw it this weekend- it was AWESOME. Although I could've done w/out all the bloody dogs-that was rough.

Yes, those dog fights were really well-staged and unsettling. The scene where they had all been killed, an anaesthetist must've been working around the clock!

The middle section, the model and the publisher ... everything collapsing at once. Heartbreaking.

It was a big film with a small budget. Only in Mexico!

                Glad you liked it, Sarah.

It's a great film but very hard to watch at times. I love dogs so the dogfights horrified me. I guess it is a fault of mine that I wasn't as horrified about the people that were hurt, but isn't a problem that we aren't all horrified about how other people are forced to make their living?
